DNF-ed
I don’t DNF books so easily, specially those which I get as review books and I have agreed upon them.

A request from author about book, I agreed on seeing Blurb & 4+ ratings on goodreads. Here is my Honest review in return of the review copy.

After putting in lots of efforts I couldn’t get through this book.
I have kept this book, may be when I become more older I will go back to this book and read it full.

My problem while reading book :

There were too many characters involved. I don’t like those books that can’t justify who the main character in 20-30 pages. And for this, I had read 110+  pages. But it was hard to pin point on the main character, there were people moving in & out of the book.

The Language used, was mix of Hindi, Malayalam and English. And MANY curse hindi words. Also words like *chakke* , I mean really ? You want to indulge readers into such language to make your point ?
I couldn’t take such language where people are degraded by their sexuality or race.
This book does both.

The hydro dam, details kept pouring in about this project. I felt like I was reading ‘How to build a Dam’ kind of book.

I may be a little less known in History, but calling a Punjabi as Pakistani. Isn’t that justifies my History. There is time and again this is done, by mistake or really an unknown history act. I am not sure yet.

The Title of chapters were in different languages, and I couldn’t understand what a non hindi reader will understand of this?

Unnecessary italics came in and went out. Not sure WHY?

For now this book, wasn’t meant for me. I seriously wish to give this another try, when I am less full of thoughts, because people have given it as 3-5 stars.

I would like to thanks Author for providing me the book in return of an honest review.

Book Review – ARDH-SATYA

KnittedTales_n

Book : ARDH-SATYA The Half Truth & Other Stories

Author : Ananya Mukherjee
Paperback price : 243.00/-
Kindle (discounted price) : 191.69/-
Pages : 230

This was my first read by Author, and WHAT A BOOK. I am really impressed with the writing of author.

This book is bounded with 20 beautiful and some amazing stories, and divided in four parts :
-> The Equation
-> God Must be a Mother
-> Between Divine & Mortal
-> Life Positive

“In beginning, there were only a few words, then sentences. Then songs happened; then poetry. What remained of me became my story”

I have loved how author Ananya Mukherjee has expressed her stories in words blended beautifully. Since the very start, dedicating book to her parent, she had me captured. I knew it, it will be greatest of reads.

Being an Indian and knowing different places is what had worked for the Author. She has captured different states of country and their culture. In the book you can find, stories from all around the world and some are very much embedded with Indian culture from Mumbai, Kashmir, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Calcutta (Kolkata).

The biggest disadvantage of book compromising short stories is, all can’t be 100% your likeable. Same happened to me while reading Ardh-Satya. There are some stories, which I felt like was far too much stretched in the middle.

Also I read a lot of Indian authors, and I have NO SHAME in saying. Ananya’s writing style and language used is one of the finest I have read.
The author has a way of describing things like a simple sunrise

“I grew up watching the sun trickle its first rays through the round-headed glass windows with coloured motifs above the doorway on the porch, and sunshine slipping in through the large Venetian window at the East-end. It overlooked the blue mountain in the distance and the emerald green valley below.”

Didn’t those words just made a beautiful painting in your mind, of what the person feeling, viewing. And there are many such places, that author has done this beautifully.

I know, authors tend to do that. That’s why they are authors, but go and read other Indian authors and you will know what I am saying :3

Also what more I liked about the stories were they started off like a first person format. And we try to imagine its a man or woman, but after first page or few paragraphs it turns out Ouchh.!! the first person was someone else. I really liked that kind, and usually went backwards to see if I missed seeing it at the first time.

Ananya Mukherjee has included amazing words/poems at the starting of each parts and some of the stories, that blend amazingly with the parts/story.

My favorite part will always be God Must be a Mother, because that’s the part where all 4 stories are heart touching ❤

Book Review : Spoilt for Choice

DSC_0693_CH - Copy.jpg

Book- Spoilt For Choice
Author- Dr. Poornansha Shrivastava
Publisher- HALF BAKED BEANS

Paperback Price – 189/- (Discounted price)
Pages- 210

The cover pic, displays what the books is about.
Its love vs passion. Some people go in a tug-of-war between love & passion. There is a couple on top (LOVE), and in reflection there is a boy racing a bike(PASSION). Also looking more closely to cover pic the motor bike traces covers the image.

It’s a love story of Samarth, who fell in love at first sight with Sachi. How they come together, and then goes apart is the story about. Pursing his under graduation study as dentist, he manages to pursue his passion as motorsport racer. Which he developed in his teens while taking part in illegal racing.
A story how Samarth competes among 200 Riders to participate in motorcycle racing that is conducted every season till the final round that leads to one champion.

The story gives us a deep insight of what fails in long distance relationships. Samarth’s relationship with Sachi goes for a toss when he is not able to give the time she needs. And in between she keeps on using Samarth, and goes into relationship with more than one person other than Samarth.

Here is what I loved about Story,
1. The friendship shown between Samarth, and his friends. They are always available in his highs, in his lows.
2. If a person take his passion seriously, he can achieve it.
3. How the author, Poornansh Shrivastava has used casual talks between friends.
4. How the author, has detailed the entry, journey of his motorsport career.

However, there are certain loopholes in story, and grammatical errors.

Author is a Dr. and a Racer, for that I would like to give this 4/5.

Book Review:Reminiscences Of A Seeker: Dark Face Of The White World (True Story)

PhotoGrid_1501071762069.jpg

Book- Reminiscences Of A Seeker: Dark Face Of The White World (True Story)
Author- Kapil Kumar Bhaskar
Publisher- Angel Books Publications

Paperback Prince – 250/- (Discounted price)
Pages- 300

I would not lie, but in started when I reading the book. I got a bit bored, and went to read the blurb that why at the first place I agreed to read it.
But as you reach Chapter 3, the thrill kicks in. I loved what I read after chapter 3. It was nerve racking sometimes, how we say we live in a perfect world. But then their are people like Kapil (author) who goes under this much in life, just to know the meaning of life.

The Tantrics, the Aghoris, I loved how simply but deeply Kapil the author has given information. It is such an engrossing story that it seems you are living each moment that the author has experienced.

The book covers different levels of Spiritual world, like relation between master and the devotee, jealousy of master when his devotee gets more knowledge, innocent people blindly trusting people with all the show offs etc.

One thing I didn’t liked about book is, its said to be a “True Story” then why author have changed name/places of many people. It just gets so much confusion sometimes, I read a name and think myself only. Its changed name. In my opinion, when the author has decided to give his real life experience the name/places should be real life only. Also if not, it should be mentioned in beginning only, that some names will be changed. Reading again n again “changed” was a bit irritating.

There were so many passages I loved, following are few of them

“There is no God, Guruji, and even if He exists, He is completely blind. He exists only for them who keep buttering and pleasing him. He is so blind that he can’t see what these people are doing to me. I have not done any wrong to them, then why they are after my life?”

“Doubts makes a mountain of fear and fear gives you nothing. Faith dissolves all mountains and gives you appropriate results. Have faith, my son.”

“Most of the time our inner voice tries to guide us to the ‘Truth’ but we, out of our own vested interests, wish to continue living in our own self-created illusions because it suits our purpose or fulfills our needs.

Buff : DPChallenge

DPChallenge word for today is Buff

Not sure of what the word could mean, I searched up google. Came up with quite a definition. Here is my words on word Buff : that means Polish

The stone in question was rough,
all it needed was a buff.

A precious stone everyone thought,
but I had it enough.

I rubbed it with a cloth,
nothing precious & dropped it in a huff.

Suddenly lights blinded me,
as the stone fell on my stuff.
Something blue came out from my trouser’s cuff.

“Hello, I am Genie” , he said in a gruff.

I left stone in the cave
& ran outside because it was strangely enough.

Well after this, did I wake up from my dream ??

May be, May be not be..

I did look up for the rhyming words, and learned new words & meanings of some words.

Tick-Tock : Detonate : DPChallenge

After so long I am taking part in DPChallenge.

Word of the day is Detonate

She laid down at her bed,
thoughts of him over her mind.
Pillow beside her,
Sheets wrapped around.

Mad to think,
he would be home soon.
His work was more important
than her passion for love.

Her love was like a time bomb,
ticking every second,
tocking every moment.

All she needed was a detonator,
to stop feeling such a passion
for a man, who doesn’t value her love.

Book Review: Unns – The Captivation

PhotoGrid_1495807466183.png

Book- UNNS: The Captivation
Author- Sapan Saxena
Genre- Fiction (Romance/Thriller)
Publisher- Inspire India Publishers

Paperback Prince – 189/-
Pages- 244

Unns- The Captivation,

As the name suggests it has actually kept me captivated while reading. At first, the story looked like a school romance, that will flourish as the time goes. But author Sapan Saxena had something else in mind. A story where two different religions meet has always attracted me to read more.

I love it when I learn new things while reading. And this book has definitely taught me “Seven stages of love”. Not only mentioned it in every chapter title, but same has gone through each page of the book.

1. Hub means the stage of Attraction.
2. Unns means the stage of Infatuation.
3. Ishq is when people actually fall in Love.
4. Aqeedat is stage of Reverence.
5. Ibadat is Worshipping of lover.
6. Junoon is the sixth stage of Obsession for your lover.
7. The final stage is Maut (death).

The book is very intelligently by the author has separated in 3 parts. And I am going to review each part differently.

The Beginning: what I love calling it as school romance, shows all of the things we as a schoolmate have seen our friends doing it or even we did it. Finding someone before we end the school is one of the certificates everyone think they deserve.
The three friends in starting gave me a look of Harry Potter, Ron Weasly & Hermoine Granger. And I knew, I am going to love this (HP things ALWAYS connect to potterheads)

The Middle: Well, I will be very true about this. If I hadn’t seen “Ek tha Tiger” movie, this part would have been my favorite. But glimpse of the movie was so much inevitable in this part.
What I loved the part in the garden where Atharva told Meher about her feeling again, just before he discussed his mission in Germany. Atharva’s feelings in Sapan’s words have been more than just words. It remains with me, even after I finished it.
“ALWAYS” my FAVORITE (what you expect from a potterhead 😛 )

The END: This part has definitely kept me tight on my toes. Thinking about, how she is now in love with him. How he still loves her. Thinking about their opportunities of being together.
But alas, once a betrayal always a betrayal..

Loved it, how the characters have aged really well. They were immature in the beginning, but as the time lapsed in book both the characters grewn strongly into what they are and what they want.

All in all, it was quite a good read, simple language with some grammatical errors & loopholes. Although, I am still in question with the things happened in Ode on Solitude..!!

Romance in the beginning,
Thriller in the middle,
& Mystery as it ends.
